Abstract Two metal carboxyphosphonates, [Co2(OOCC5H3NPO3)2·(H2O)3] (Compound1) and Zn3[OOCC6H3CH(OH)PO3]2·2H2O (Compound2) were successfully synthesized under the hydrothermal reactions. In compound 1, two Co1-NO5} octahedra link the CPO3} by sharing the corner, which link the two Co2-O6} octahedra. From a-axis the six clusters form the layer.
