    Synthesis and Structure−Activity Relationships of Trisubstituted Phenyl Urea Derivatives as Neuropeptide Y5 Receptor Antagonists

    1-((1R,2R)-2-Hydroxy-1-methyl-2-phenylethyl)-1-methyl-3-(4-phenoxyphenyl)urea (1) was identified as a hit from the screening of the neuropeptide Y5 (NPY5) receptor. This lead was optimized for in vitro potency by changing the stereochemistry, the phenylethyl segment, the urea portion, and the 4-phenoxyphenyl group on the molecule. Over 40 analogues of 1 were prepared to study the structure-activity relationship for this series. The most potent compounds in this class have IC(50)s less than 0.1 nM at the NPY5 receptor (e.g., 40f, 44a, and 47). To determine the functional activity for this series of compounds, selected analogues were tested in acellular assay measuring forskolin-induced cyclic AMP accumulation in 293 cells transfected with the human NPY5 receptor. All urea analogues tested in the functional assay acted as antagonists (e.g., 1, 32, 40a, and 44e).

    A prepreg includes; sizing agent-coated carbon fibers coated with a sizing agent; and a thermosetting resin composition impregnated into the sizing agent-coated carbon fibers. The sizing agent includes an aliphatic epoxy compound (A) and an aromatic compound (B) at least containing an aromatic epoxy compound (B1). The thermosetting resin composition includes a thermosetting resin (D) and a latent hardener (E), and optionally includes an additive (F) other than the thermosetting resin (D) and the latent hardener (E). The (a)/(b) ratio is within a predetermined range where (a) is the height of a component at a binding energy assigned to CHx, C—C, and C═C and (b) is the height of a component at a binding energy assigned to C—O in a C 1s core spectrum of the surfaces of the sizing agent-coated carbon fibers analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

    To provide a prepreg and a carbon fiber reinforced composite material that are excellent in adhesion between a matrix resin and carbon fibers and long-term storage stability and also excellent in microcrack resistance due to the increased toughness. The present invention provides a prepreg that includes; agent-coated carbon fibers coated with a sizing agent; and a thermosetting resin composition impregnated into the sizing agent-coated carbon fibers. The sizing agent includes an aliphatic epoxy compound (A) and an aromatic epoxy compound (B1). The sizing agent-coated carbon fibers are in a shape of woven fabric or braid. The thermosetting resin composition includes a thermosetting resin (D), a thermoplastic resin (F), and a latent hardener (G). The sizing agent-coated carbon fibers have an (a)/(b) ratio in a certain range where (a) is the height of a component at a binding energy assigned to CHx, C—C, and C═C and (b) is the height of a component at a binding energy assigned to C—O in a C 1s core spectrum of the surfaces of the sizing agent-coated carbon fibers analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

    A process for preparing 3,4'-amino-nitro-diphenylether in a heterogenous phase, according to the phase-transfer catalysis method, in which para-chloro-nitrobenzene is reacted with an alkali metal or alkaline-earth metal salt, preferably sodium or potassium, of meta-amino-phenol, preferably at a temperature ranging from 50°C to 120°C, in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst, preferably (1) an onium salt, more preferably a quaternary alkylammonium salt (QR4R wherein 0 is selected from N, P, As, Sb etc., R is an alkyl radical containing up to 20 carbon atoms and Y is Cl, Br, or i, or (2) a crown ether, in a two-phase system consisting of (a) an organic phase represented by the para-chloro-nitrobenzene, optionally in an organic solution, and (b) by the meta-amino-phenol in the form of an alkali metal or alkaline-earth metal salt in an aqueous solution which is substantially immiscible with the first phase.In this way, 3,4'-amino-nitro-diphenylether is obtained, which is a particularly useful intermediate for preparing fibres.
