Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Fe(II), and Zn(II) complexes of N-nicotinoyl-N'-2-thiophenethiocarbohydrazide (H-2 NTTH) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, infrared, NMR, electronic, and ESR spectral studies. The complexes were found to have compositions [Mn(H NTTH)(2) (H2O)(2)], [Co(NTTH) (H2O)(2)], [Ni(NTTH) (H2O)(2)], [Cu(NTTH)]center dot H2O, [Cu(H-2 NTTH) Cl-2], [Zn(NTTH)]center dot H2O and [Zn(H-2 NTTH) Cl-2], and [Fe(H NTTH)(2)]. The ligand N-nicotinoyl-N'-2-thiophenethiocarbohydrazide (H-2 NTTH) and itsmetal complexes have been screened against several bacteria and fungi.
