    An ionic compound capable of providing a cured material having superior antibacterial property and oxygen permeability, and a composition containing the ionic compound, and a cured material, a hydro gel and an ophthalmic lens which have long-term sustainable antibacterial property and superior oxygen permeability. The ionic compound is represented by the following formula (1): In formula (1), P represents a polymerizable functional group. Q + represents a cationic group: Z represents an n-valent siloxanyl group in which the total atomic weight of a group of constituent atoms is no less than 70 and no greater than 1,000; X m− represents an m-valent anion; and n is an integer of 1 to 10, where provided that n is no less than 2, a plurality of P3 and Q + 3 are each independently as defined above.

    An ocular lens material comprising a polymer prepared by polymerizing a monomer mixture containing at least one of (A-1) a compound represented by the formula (I): wherein R1 is hydrogen atom or methyl group, R2 is an alkylene group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R3 is an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and X1 is a halogen atom, and (A-2) a compound represented by the formula (II): wherein R4 is hydrogen atom or methyl group, R5 is an alkylene group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R6 is an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and X2 is a halogen atom. The ocular lens material shows excellent antibacterial property.

    A contact lens material which has high oxygen permeability and mechanical strength, and extremely small in an amount of remaining unpolymerized monomers, at the same time, low in a water absorption ratio and excellent in shape stability of a lens is provided. The contact lens material comprises a copolymer obtained by polymerizing copolymer components containing a particular silicone-containing monomer, wherein the total residual amount of unpolymerized monomer components remaining in the copolymer based on the copolymer is at most 3.5 % by weight, an oxygen permeability coefficient of the copolymer is at least 130 × 10-11 (cm2/sec)·(mLO2)/(mL·mmHg), and a water absorption ratio of the copolymer is at most 0.3 % by weight.

    The present invention provides a silicone-containing polymer material containing an internal wetting agent and being excellent in transparency, the silicone-containing polymer material being improved in antifouling property against lipids. The polymer material of the present invention is a polymer material, which is obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable mixture containing monomer components (a) and a hydrophilic polymer component (b), wherein the monomer components (a) include a silicone-containing monomer (a-1) having a siloxane bond and being free of any hydroxyl group, and a compatibilizing monomer (a-2) having a hydrogen bonding proton-containing group and being free of any silicon atom, and wherein the compatibilizing monomer has four or more carbon atoms, excluding carbon atoms contained in a polymerizable functional group, and has a solubility of less than 0.03 g/mL in water at 25°C.
