    The structures of eighteen polychloro-alicyclic ketones prepared by the chlorination of chlorinated phenols, ortho and meta cresols, or the corresponding toluidines were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared, and ultraviolet spectroscopy. Stereochemistry and the sequence of the formation of these polychloro-alicyclic ketones are described.

    A polyester film has a surface layer whose major component is polyester A. Protrusions are formed on the film surface originating from the crystallization of polyester A. The number of protrusions formed on the surface of the film is not less than 5 x 10³/mm², and the ratio N R of the number of protrusions to the number of particles contained in a surface layer forming the surface of the film is not less than 5. Since most or all of the protrusions are formed by utilizing the crystallization of polyester A without relying upon the addition of particles, generation of voids can be prevented and fine and uniform protrusions having excellent chipping resistance and scratch resistance can be formed.
    聚酯薄膜的表层主要成分是聚酯 A,薄膜表面形成的突起物来自聚酯 A 的结晶。薄膜表面形成的突起物数量不少于 5 x 10³/mm²,突起物数量与形成薄膜表面的表层所含颗粒数量之比 N R 不少于 5。由于大部分或全部突起都是利用聚酯 A 的结晶形成的,无需添加颗粒,因此可防止产生空隙,并可形成细小均匀的突起,具有优异的抗崩角性和抗划伤性。

    The present invention provides a polyester film particularly useful as a base film for a magnetic recording medium such as cassette-type magnetic tape of a digital recording mode and a production process thereof. The polyester film is produced by irradiating UV light onto a surface of a film in a non-stretched stage or a stage prior to the completion of stretching to form fine protrusions on the surface. The fine protrusions on the film surface are specified by the ratio of 10-point average roughness Rz to center line average roughness Ra (Rz/Ra) on the surface (less than 20), the difference in concentration of carboxyl groups between the surface layer part and the inside of the film, and the number of fine protrusions.
