Cloning and Characterization of the Biosynthetic Gene Cluster of 16-Membered Macrolide Antibiotic FD-891: Involvement of a Dual Functional Cytochrome P450 Monooxygenase Catalyzing Epoxidation and Hydroxylation
DualfunctionalP450: The biosyntheticgenecluster of the macrolideantibiotic FD‐891 was cloned, and its biosynthesis was elucidated. A cytochromeP450, GfsF, was found to catalyzeepoxidation and hydroxylation in a stepwise manner. Further two novel FD‐891 analogues, 25‐O‐methyl‐FD‐892 and 10‐deoxy‐FD‐891 were prepared through biosynthetic technology.
