Synthesis and characterisation of platinum(II) complexes with histamine and iodohistamine

New complexes of platinum(II) with histamine (Hist) and iodohistamine (lHist) have been synthesised and characterised by elemental analysis, mass spectrometry and chromatographic techniques. The structure of PtCl(2)Hist complex has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The intermolecular NH...Pt and CH...Pt hydrogen bonds were observed. Radioactive analogues of PtCl(2)Hist or PtCl(2)IHist labelled with isotopes of iodine, i.e. I-125 or I-131 were prepared with the intention of potential application for concomitant anticancer radio-chemotherapy of solid tumours.
