An efficient Amberlite IRA-400 Cl basic anion exchange resin mediated multicomponent reaction of 2-hydroxybenzaldehydes, 1, 3-diketone and nucleophiles under neat condition afforded a number of fluorescent 4H-chromenederivatives in excellent yield.
