  Trifluoromethyl ether and difluoro(methylthio)methyl ether of phenols and aliphatic alcohols were selectively synthesized from the corresponding dithiocarbonates. When IF5-pyridine-HF was used alone in the reaction of the dithiocarbonate, the difluoro(methylthio)methyl ether was selectively formed.
