  The photolysis of phenyl azide in diethyalmine leads to ring enlargement with the formation of 2-diethylamino-3H-azepine (I-3H). Photolysis in trimethylamine containing aniline leads to the corresponding 2-anilino derivative (II-3H), whereas photolysis in liquid ammonia leads to the 2-amino derivative (III-3H).
