An efficient and simple Cu-catalyzed Reformatsky reaction of ketones and aldehydes has been accomplished with ethyl iodoacetate. A series of chiral indolinylmethanol ligands have been applied for the first time in the asymmetric Reformatskyreaction of an α-bromoester with ketones.
