  Irradiation of inclusion complexes of pyridones and optically active host compounds, (R,R)-(-)-1,6-di(o-chlorophenyl)-1,6-diphenylhexa-2,4-diyne-1,6-diol and (R,R)-(-)-trans-4,5-bis(hydroxydiphenylmethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxacyclopentane, in the solid state gave optically active β-lactam derivatives.
