In electrochemical oxidations, the second oxidation potential of phenylenediamines (PD) varies because of hydrogen-bonding formation for PD+center dot with pyridines. A linear relationship was obtained for the potential shift as a function of pK(a) of the protonated pyridines and potential inversion could be observed. The oxidized PD+center dot could also form hydrogen bonding with alcohols and the shift of potential exhibits a different pattern.

Multimodal Imaging‐Guided Photothermal Immunotherapy Based on a Versatile NIR‐II Aggregation‐Induced Emission Luminogen
A versatile NIR-II AIE luminogen displaying fluorescence, photoacoustic, and photothermalimaging functions was designed by using a benzo[c]thiophene moiety as a building block. This luminogen, when applied with an integrated programmed death-ligand 1 (αPD-L1) antibody, exhibits unprecedented performance in multimodal imaging-guided photothermalimmunotherapy towards breast tumors.
