    Disclosed is a polycarbonate comprising a plurality of aromatic polycarbonate main chains, wherein the aromatic polycarbonate main chains collectively contain specific heterounits in a specific amount in the polycarbonate main chains. The polycarbonate of the present invention can be obtained by controlling the temperature of and the residence time of the polymerizable material in the reaction zones of the reaction system so as to satisfy the specific requirements. The polycarbonate of the present invention is advantageous in that not only does it have high transparency and colorlessness as well as high mechanical strength, but also it can exhibit high non-Newtonian flow properties, so that it exhibits high molding melt fluidity. Therefore, the polycarbonate of the present invention is extremely advantageous from a commercial point of view.

    A resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a resin component selected from (a) an aromatic polycarbonate resin (A-1 component) obtained by melt polymerization and, when measured for fluorescent spectrum at an exciting wavelength of 320 nm, having a relative fluorescence intensity of 4x10-3 or less at 465 nm relative to a standard substance, (b) a resin mixture of said A-1 component and a styrene-based resin (A-2 component), and (c) a resin mixture of said A-1 component and an aromatic polyester resin (A-3 component), and 5 to 200 parts by weight of a reinforcing filler. This resin composition gives a molded article superior in wet heat fatigue and various physical properties.

    A subject for the invention is to provide a branched aromatic polycarbonate which is excellent in hue and in melt characteristics such as melt strength. The invention provides a process for an aromatic polycarbonate composition comprising an aromatic polycarbonate, a carbonic diester compound and a dye, said process comprising producing the aromatic polycarbonate by a transesterification method and adding the dye after a catalyst used for the transesterification method is deactivated and before a pelletization, wherein the aromatic polycarbonate has a viscosity-average molecular weight of 16,000 or higher, the ratio of the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) to the number-average molecular weight (Mn) of the aromatic polycarbonate as measured by gel permeation chromatography and calculated for standard polystyrene (Mw/Mn) is in the range of from 2.8 to 4.5, the content of the carbonic diester compound in the aromatic polycarbonate composition is 200 ppm by weight or less, the dye is one or more compounds selected from Phthalocyanine Blue dyes and anthraquinone dyes and the content of the dye in the aromatic polycarbonate composition is from 0.01 ppm by weight to 100 ppm by weight. The invention further provides an aromatic polycarbonate composition comprising an aromatic polycarbonate and a carbonic diester compound.
