Catalyst compositions that are highly tolerant of catalyst poisons for use in addition polymerizations comprising a catalytic derivative of a Group 4 metal complex, a cocatalyst, and a Group 13 metal amide compound.
A 2-anilidomethylpyridine framework, a proven ancillary support, undergoes 1,4-hydroalumination by AlH3(NMe2Et) and models the hydride storage in Hantzsch esters and biological cofactors like NADH or NAD(P)H. DFT analyses suggest a ‘self-promoting’ hydroalumination mechanism that underlines alane's acid-base duality. AlMe3 in contrast does not lead to such pyridyl dearomatization.
