    The present invention relates to silver/polymer composite nanospheres and to a process for preparation thereof. More particularly, the present invention relates to silver/polymer composite nanospheres obtained by depositing silver nanoparticles on the surface of polymeric support and to a process for preparation thereof. Further, the silver/polymer composite nanospheres according to the present invention may not cause general discoloration and cohesion by colloidal silver and thereby can be used as a preservative having strong antimicrobial activity. In addition, the silver/polymer composite nanospheres according to the present invention can preserve cosmetics during a long period, not using conventional preservatives. Accordingly, the present invention relates to silver/polymer composite nanospheres to be used as a cosmetic preservative and to cosmetic compositions containing the same.

    A process for the preparation of a (co)polymerizable composition containing a diol bis(allyl carbonate) monomer and an aromatic diacyl peroxide comprising dissolving in said monomer a powdered peroxide composition in which the peroxide is mixed with an organic desensitizing agent, e.g. dicyclohexyl phthalate, which has a melting or softening point higher than 40°C and forms 20-80% by weight of said peroxide composition. The process permits, with the aid of simple stirring equipment, to obtain good quality (co)-polymerizable compositions at room temperature without vigorous stirring and in a relatively short time. Also disclosed is the (co)polymerization of the (co)polymerizable compositions thus prepared.
