  This invention relates to heterocyclic compounds which are inhibitors of the enzyme aromatase, to processes for their preparation, to pharmaceutical compositions containing them and to their use in medicine. Particular compounds of the invention are compounds of formula (I) wherein R¹ represents a cyano or nitro group; R² represents hydrogen or one or more halogen atoms; R³ represents a C₁₋₆alkyl group and R⁴ represents hydrogen or a C₁₋₆alkyl group or R³ and R⁴ together represent a C₃₋₆cycloalkyl group; and R⁵ represents hydrogen or one or more halogen atoms or C₁₋₆alkoxy groups and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates thereof.
