  (EN) A hydroxypropylated 2-nitro-p-phenylenediamine of formula (I), wherein R1 is a C1-4 alkyl, $g(b)-hydroxyethyl, $g(b)-hydroxypropyl or $g(g)-hydroxypropyl radical; R2 and R3 independently represent a $g(b)-hydroxyethyl, $g(b)-hydroxypropyl, $g(g)-hydroxypropyl or $g(b,g)-dihydroxypropyl radical, with the proviso that at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is a $g(g)-hydroxypropyl radical, while the other two are not both a $g(b)-hydroxyethyl radical; and cosmetically acceptable salts thereof. This compound may be used for directly dyeing hair to give blue through purplish blue shades which are wash-fast, light-fast, weatherproof and sweat resistant.(FR) 2-Nitro-p-phénylènediamine hydroxypropylée ayant pour formule (I), dans laquelle: R1 représente un radical alkyle en C1-C4, $g(b)-hydroxyéthyle, $g(b)-hydroxypropyle ou $g(g)-hydroxypropyle; R2 et R3, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, représentent un radical $g(b)-hydroxyéthyle, $g(b)-hydroxypropyle, $g(g)-hydroxypropyle, ou $g(b,g)-dihydroxypropyle, sous réserve que l'un au moins des radicaux R1, R2 ou R3 représente un radical $g(g)-hydroxypropyle et que les deux autres ne puissent désigner simultanément un radical $g(b)-hydroxyéthyle, et sels cosmétiquement acceptables de ce composé. Application en teinture directe des cheveux pour l'obtention de nuances bleu à bleu violet solides au lavage, à la lumière, aux intempéries et à la transpiration.
