    A composition is disclosed having minimum halogen content, fire-retardance and/or drip-resistant characteristics. The composition comprises an effective amount of a polycarbonate, a glass fiber, a polysiloxane-polycarbonate copolymer, and a synergistic combination of an aromatic sulfone sulfonate such as potassium diphenylsulfone sulfonate with an aromatic sulfonate such as sodium salt of toluene sulfonic acid, optionally in the presence of an anti-drip agent. The polycarbonate composition is useful for manufacture of electronic and mechanical articles, among others.

    A halogen-free polycarbonate composition is disclosed having improved fire-retardancy and/or transparency characteristics. The composition comprises a polycarbonate, and a synergic combination of an aromatic sulfone sulfonate such as potassium diphenylsulfone sulfonate, an aromatic sulfonate such as sodium salt of toluene sulfonic acid, and optionally a siloxane oligomer. The polycarbonate composition is useful for manufacture of electronic and mechanical parts, among others.

    A polycarbonate composition is disclosed having zero or minimum halogen content, while also exhibiting improved fire-retardance and/or drip-resistant characteristics. The composition comprises an effective amount of a polycarbonate, an anti-dripping agent, an aromatic sulfone sulfonate, an aromatic sulfonate, a synergistic combination of an elastomer-modified graft copolymer and a polysiloxane-polycarbonate copolymer, and an optional siloxane oligomer. The polycarbonate composition is useful for manufacture of electronic and mechanical articles, among others.

    A thermoplastic polymer composition comprises a cyanophenyl endcapped polycarbonate, a potassium diphenyl sulphon-3-sulphonate; and brominated polycarbonate. In some embodiments, when the thermoplastic polymer composition is in the form of a 3 mm thick extruded sheet, the sheet has a smoke density of less than 200 at an exposure period of 240 seconds in accordance with the smoke density test as set forth in ASTM E662-06, and has no burning drips on the sheet for a duration of 10 minutes in accordance with the flammability test as set forth in NF-P-92-505.
