The Pt(IV) complex (tBuMe(2)nacnac)PtMe3 (1, tBuMe(2)nacnac =[((4-t Bu-2,6-Me2C6H2)NC(CH3))(2)CH]) reacts 'OA molecular oxygen to form a peroxo complex, 2, in which one oxygen atom is hound to the platinum center and the other to the central carbon of the nacnac ligand backbone. Over time, 2 converts to a new Pt(IV) species (3) wherein the oxygen-oxygen bond has been cleaved.
