  An efficient ligand-free, microwave-assisted, Pd-catalyzed, Suzuki coupling of 1-chloro-3-phenylisoquinoline and boronic acids, in the presence of sodium carbonate base and 1,4-dioxane solvent, is reported for the synthesis of diversified 1,3-disubstituted isoquinolines. R1 = 4-pyridyl, 4-formylphenyl, phenyl, p-tolyl, 3-methoxyphenyl, 4-biphenyl, thiophene-2-carbonyl .
