The unsymmetrically substituted alkyne ClCCSiMe3 and the dialkynes PhCCCCSiMe3 and PhCCSiMe2CCPh react with tungsten hexachloride in CCl4, in the presence of C2Cl4 as a reducing agent, and with molybdenum pentachloride in CCl4, respectively, to form the alkyne complexes [MoCl4-(ClCCiMe3)]2 (1), [WCl4(ClCCSiMe3)]2 (2), [WCl4(PhCCCCSiMe3)]2 (3), [W2Cl8(PhCCCCSiMe3)]x (4), [W2Cl8(PhCCSiMe2CCPh)]x
