Novel azacyclic compounds selected from the group consisting of ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is H or C.sub.1-6 -alkyl R.sup.3 is ##STR2## R" is H or C.sub.1-8 -alkyl or C.sub.1-6 -alkoxy or C.sub.1-4 -alkoxy-C.sub.1-4 -alkyl or aryl, and R.sup.4 is H, C.sub.1-8 -alkyl or Cl; and a salt thereof with a pharmaceutically-acceptable acid. The new compounds are useful in improving the cognitive functions of the forebrain and hippocampus of mammals, and are useful in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
