  treatment of cholestan-3-one-2α-ethylxanthate gave among four products, the unexpected 2-thioncarbethoxy-Δ 2 -cholesten-3-ol. This reaction of generating a carbon-carbon bond, heretofore unreported in the steroid field, affords a novel method of preparing thiono-esters.
