[GRAPHICS]An aldol-type and a Mannich-type reaction via the cross-coupling of aldehydes and imines with allylic alcohols catalyzed by RuCl2(PPh3)(3) was developed with ionic liquid as the solvent. The solvent/caltalyst system could be reused for at least five times with no loss of reactivity.
