    Abstract

    A phylogenetic analysis of the New World Eucraniini was conducted using cladistics. The tribe is monophyletic based on an analysis of 64 morphological characters. The flying Ennearabdus is the sister taxon to the three flightless genera, Anomiopsoides, Eucranium, and Glyphoderus, and Anomiopsoides and Glyphoderus share a common ancestor. The relationship of the eucraniines to other tribes of Scarabaeinae, dung preference, a comparison to the flightless southwest African genus Pachysoma, and the biogeography of the tribe are also discussed.

  • Process for the preparation of ABS compositions with improved toughness properties

    A process for preparing a thermoplastic molding composition of the ABS type is described. The process includes: (A) forming at least one graft rubber A) using a rubber latex having a d 50 value of <200 nm; (B) forming at least one graft rubber B) using a rubber latex having a d50 value of ≧200 nm; and forming a rubber-free thermoplastic polymer resin C). The method further includes: (D) forming precipitates of graft rubbers A) and B); (E) de-watering the precipitates to form water moist powders of graft rubbers A) and B); and mixing the water-moist powders of graft rubbers A) and B) with polymer C) in a kneader reactor. Graft rubbers A) and B) may be prepared separately or in a single step. The content in wt. % of rubber originating from graft rubber component A) based on the total amount of rubber in the molding composition is at least 5 wt. % lower than the content of rubber in wt.% originating from graft rubber component B), in each case based on 100 parts by wt. of graft rubber.

The water-dispersed polyurethane composition of the present invention is excellent in adhesiveness, water resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, weather resistance, water repellency, oil repellency, and the like, and can be suitably used as paint for surface-treated steel plates. wherein R 1 represents an alkyl group having 10 to 30 carbon atoms, R 2 represents —N═C═O or —NH—C(═O)C—O— R 1 , and A represents a residue other than two —N═C═O groups derived from a diisocyanate.
