Stereospecific reactions of the “M(C6F5)2” (M Pd or Pt synthons towards cis-dithiolato complexes

Complexes of the general formula cis-[M(SC6F5)2L2] (M = Ni, Pd, or Pt; L2 = dppm [bis(diphenylphosphino)methane], dppe [1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane], or 2PPh3) were synthesized by the reaction (1: 2) between the corresponding cis-[MCl2L2] and Tl(SC6F5). When treated with cis-[M(C6F5)2(THF)2] (M = Pd or Pt; THF = OC4H8) they yield geminal homo- or hetero-binuclear compounds, which were characterized by IR, NMR and mass spectroscopy.
Synthesis of [SnPh2(SRF)2] SRF=−SC6F4-4-H, −SC6F5: Reactivity towards group 10 transition metal complexes

The organometallic tin(IV) complexes [SnPh2(SRF)(2)] SRF = -SC6F4-4-H (1), -SC6F5 (2), were synthesized and their reactivity with [MCl2(PPh3)(2)] M = Ni, Pd and Pt explored. Thus, transmetallation products were obtained affording polymeric [Ni(SRF)(mu-SRF)](n), monomeric cis-[Pt(PPh3)(2)(SC6F4-4-H)(2)] (3) and cis-[Pt(PPh3)(2)(SC6F5)(2)] (4) and dimeric species [Pd(PPh3)(SC6F4-4-H)(mu-SC6F4-4-H)](2) (5) and [Pd(PPh3)(SC6F5)(mu-SC6F5)](2) (6) for Ni, Pt and Pd, respectively.
