The present invention relates to a method for the synthesis of an α amino acetal, comprising (i) oxidizing a tertiary amine in the presence of a copper catalyst, at least one oxidant and a solvent, or (ii) reacting a secondary amine and an aliphatic aldehyde in the presence of a copper catalyst, at least one oxidant and a solvent.

The photocatalyzed aminomethylation of alkyl halides was realized for the synthesis of tertiary amines bearing bulky substituents and it involves radical C(sp3)−C(sp3) bond formation. The bulky N-substituents serve as an activation group to overcome the redox-potential barrier in these reactions, allowing synthesis of sterically congested tertiary amines.

A multi-surface kitchen cleaning system is described that allows for easier cleaning of all residential and commercial kitchen surfaces from all angles, especially underneath a range hood and up inside an oven, and which comprises an alkaline/nonionic composition contained in and dispensable from a package comprising an angled-neck sprayer bottle fitted with an invertible trigger sprayer assembly, wherein the cleaning system may be used in an entirely upside-down orientation to spray upwards at an acute angle.
