  This invention provides certain N-phenyl-N'-substitutedphenylsulfonylureas compounds having the formula wherein:    X¹ is halo, CH₃ or CF₃;    X² is hydrogen, halo, or CF₃ with the proviso that at least one of X¹ and X² is halo;    A, B, D and E are (a) independently selected from group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, chlorine, bromine and iodine with the proviso that no more than one of A, B, D or E is hydrogen, or (b) E is hydrogen and one of A, B or D is selected from the group consisting of -NH₂, -NHCH₃, -N(CH₃)₂, -N(CH₃)(CH₂CH₃), -N(CH₂CH₃)₂, or -OCH₃ and the remaining of A, B or D are selected from (a), or (c) E is hydrogen and A and B or B and D together are -(CH₂)n- or -CH=CH(CH₂)n-2- wherein n is 3 or 4 or -(CH=CH)₂-, or -(CH₂)pO- where p is 2 or 3, or -O(CH₂)qO- where q is 1 or 2 and D or A respectively is selected from (a);    or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and pharmaceutical formulations employing these compounds. This invention also provides a method for treating susceptible neoplasms in mammals using these sulfonylurea compounds and processes for producing them.

  The electric dipole moments of a number of aryl methyl sulphides have been measured in benzene solution at 30° and the data discussed. The moments of p-aminophenyl methyl and p-dimethylaminophenyl methyl sulphide indicate that sulphur enters into d-orbital resonance in these compounds.
