The title compounds have been prepared from the reaction of trifluoromethylthiocopper and alkyl mono- and di-haloarsines. This communication describes their synthesis, biological screening and massspectral fragmentation behavior.
Trifluoromethylthionitrite, CF3SNO, a red gas, has been made by the action of NOCl on Hg(SCF3)2, and also from CF3SH with an alkyl nitrite or NOCl, all at low temperatures. It decomposes quickly at room temperature, but very slowly at –78°, to give the disulphide CF3S·SCF3 and NO.

Trifluoromethyl- and trifluoromethylchalcogenyl-substituted adamantanes have been synthesized and modified chemically. Thus, 1-amino-3-trifluoromethyl-adamantane, for example, was prepared and converted into various N-halogeno derivatives by fluorination with elemental fluorine or oxidation with hypochlorites. The N,N-difluoro N-chloro and N,N-dichloro molecules were generated in a similar manner.
