  Orbital Interactions in Ethynylpyridines

  摘要：

  He I and He II photoelectron spectra of several isomeric ethynyl- and diethynylpyridines have been measured. The spectra were analyzed with the aid of empirical arguments: relative band intensities and comparison with spectra of related compounds (ethynylbenzenes), AMI calculations were also performed to confirm the assignment. We have deduced for the first time, solely on empirical grounds, the presence of orbital interactions between nitrogen lone pairs and in-plane pi-orbitals of the ethynyl group. Relative Lewis basicities are predicted and rationalized.

  A conjugated polymer having a recurring unit of formula (I) or (II): (in which Ar and Ar' are the same or different and each represents a heteroaromatic ring) has good heat stability and mouldability. The polymer having a recurring unit of formula (I) may be modified by reaction with an amine or with hydrogen sulphide and both may be modified by doping with an electron-donative compound or an electron-attractive compound, to prepare organic semiconductors or organic conductors having various electrical conductivities.

  In the tridentate ligand 2,6-bis(1-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)pyridine, C23H19N7, both sets of triazole N atoms are anti with respect to the pyridine N atom, while in the copper complex aqua[2,6-bis(1-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl) pyridine](pyridine)-(tetrafluoroborato)copper(II) tetrafluoroborate, [Cu(BF4)-(C5H5N)(C23H19N7)(H2O)] BF4, the triazole N atoms are in the syn-syn conformation. The coordination of the Cu-II atom is distorted octahedral. The ligand structure is stabilized through intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot N interactions, while the crystal structure of the Cu complex is stabilized through water-and BF4-mediated hydrogen bonds. Photoluminiscence studies of the ligand and complex show that the ligand is fluorescent due to triazole-pyridine conjugation, but that the fluorescence is quenched on complexation.
