Chlorinated and brominated aryltrisilanes ClnSi3Ar8−n and BrnSi3Ar8−n (Ar = phenyl, p-tolyl) as well as tetrasilanes (Ar = phenyl) have been synthesized. In a first step, Ph3SiSiPh2SiPh3, Ph3SiSiClPhSiPh3, p-Tol3SiSiPh2SiPh3, Ph3SiSip-Tol2SiPh3, Cl3SiSiCl2SiPh3 or H(SiPh2)4H have been prepared, and subsequently treated with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (CF3SO3H), followed by a nucleophilic substitution
