Enantioselectiveacylation/kinetic resolution of racemicamines has been achieved by using a chiral benzimidazolide, namely, (S)-1-benzoyl-2-(α-acetoxyethyl)benzimidazole 2. This nonenzymatic acylating reagent requires mild reaction conditions and proceeds with good enantioselectivity.
