Bis(dimethylgermyl)alkane ruthenium tetracarbonyls Me2Ge(CH2)nGe(Me2)Ru(CO)4 (n = 1, 2) are obtained by reaction of bis(dimethylgermyl)alkanes Me2(H)Ge(CH2)nGe(H)Me2 (n = 1, 2) with Ru3(CO)12 under UV irradiation, or by heating. Bis(dimethylgermyl)alkaneruthenium tetracarbonyls Me2 activated Ge(CH2)nGeMe2)Ru(CO)4 (n = 1, 2) react under thermic effect with RCHO aldehydes (R = C6H-5, CCl3) by insertion-elimination reaction leading to the germylated heterocycles Me2 activated Ge(CH2)nGe(Me2)O. With 1,2-quinones the reaction of bis(dimethyl)alkaneruthenium tetracarbonyls probably involves electron transfer process and leads to germylated dioxepane and dioxocane. By insertion reaction into the Ge-Ru bond, the reactions with unsaturated reagents CS2, C6H-5NCO, (NC)2C = C(CN)2 result in the nearly quantitative formation of new germylated tetracarbonyl ruthenium complexes.
