    The electrochemical synthesis and properties of polymeric copper complexes with tetradentate (N2O2) Schiff bases were studied. The effects of the metal center and ligand surrounding of the starting compounds on the mechanism and kinetics of the charge transport in the polymers are discussed.

    The mechanism for the oxidation of sulfides by [(me4-salen)CrV(O)(pyO)]CF3SO3, where me4-salen is 8,8,8',8'-tetramethylsalen and pyO is pyridine N-oxide, has been investigated. Results from Hammett correlations on the rates of oxidation of substituted thioanisoles, frontier molecular orbital calculations, and product studies are consistent with a mechanism that is initiated by a single electron transfer to give a radical cation intermediate.Key words: oxidation, chromium(V), sulfides, radical cation, oxygen transfer.

    The capabilities of readily prepared and sublimable Pt(II) Schiff base triplet emitters as OLED dopants have been examined; maximum luminous and power efficiencies and luminance of 31 cd A(-1), 14 lm W(-1), and 23,000 cd m(-2), respectively, and white EL (CIE: 0.33, 0.35) by simultaneous host/dopant emission, have been achieved.

    Several achiral Mn(III) salen complexes with different groups in the diimine bridge and in the aldehyde fragment were synthesised and their catalytic activity in the epoxidation of styrene was studied at room temperature, using two oxygen sources, NaOCl or PhIO, and in two solvents, CH3CN and CH2Cl2.
