N‐Salicylidene p‐aminobenzenesulfonate salts were prepared by in situ condensation of p‐aminobenzenesulfonate diallylammonium salt and salicylaldehyde. Modulation of thermo‐ and photochromism was achieved by varying the alkyl chain length of the diallylammonium counter‐cation. A structural–optical properties investigation reveals that both crystal packing and dihedral angle between aromatic rings of
Hydrophobically modified water-soluble polymers and polyelectrolytes as micellar promotors in the Rh(<scp>i</scp>) catalyzed hydrogenation of an amino acid precursor in water
molecular weights have been prepared and used in the micellar promoted enantioselective hydrogenation of methyl (Z)-α-acetamidocinnamate with a chiral Rh(I) catalyst in aqueous medium. The efficiency of the micellar polymers in the catalytic reaction is greatly determined by their solubility (dispersibility) behavior and solubilization capacity for catalyst and substrate. The latters depends on the compactness
The dehydrative allylation from allyl alcohol with amines to generate various allyl amines by MoO3/TiO2 solid catalyst is described. The catalyst can be reused at least three times without a decrease of activity.

A biocidal compound characterized in that it comprises the following molecule (Figure 2): wherein: R1 is selected from the group comprised of methyl and propylene, and R2 is selected from the group comprised of C12H25, C15H25 and C11F17H6 A process for making it, and a wood preservative composition comprising it.
Polymers containing 55 to 90% of units of the formula (A) :
wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and 10 to 45% of units of the formula (B) and (C):
wherein R2 is a hydrogen group of 5 to 19 carbon atoms, for example n-C11H23, R3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, R4 is a hydrocarbon group of 5 to 19 carbon atoms, for example n-C11H23 and X- is an anion and which contain at least 10% of units of formula (C) and are free from polymeric species having a molecular weight of less than 10,000 are described. The polymers possess antimicrobial activity against common pathogens. Isotonic aqueous solutions containing 0.002 to 0.025% of the polymer are suitable for the sterilisation of contact lenses for example by immersion of the lens in the solution overnight. Hydrophilic ointments containing from 0.002 to 0.25% of the polymer are suitable for the treatment of bacterial infection of lesions of the skin such as burns and ulcers.
