  用新型膦酸盐 24b 对芳香醛进行霍纳-沃兹沃斯-埃蒙斯（HWE）烯化反应，可得到 E 构型的芳基亚甲基取代的 2,2-二甲基-1,3-二氧戊环-4-酮 25a-f（收率为 79-88%）。后者与芳基乙酸甲酯锂烯醇化物 lithio-20b-d 发生缩合，经酸处理和结晶后得到异构纯 (Z)-pulvinones 8d-s，收率为 75-91%。我们还发现，膦酸盐 24b 与脂肪族醛之间的 Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons 反应可生成 E 型烷基亚甲基取代的 2,2-二甲基-1,3-二氧戊环-4-酮 25g-i（收率为 82-96%）。
