X signifies hydrogen, an alkali metal, the equivalent of an earth alkali metal or an ammonium ion;
with the provisio that R3 and R4 are not located at postion 3 or 3'.
The invention is also concerned with a process for the manufacture of such compounds, complexes of such compounds with a metal of Group VIII and with the use of these complexes as catalyst for asymmetric hydrogenation and for enantioselective hydrogen displacement in prochiral allylic systems.
