    The treatment of a slurry of an equimolar mixture of [Sn(edt)(2)] (edt = ethane-1,2-dithiolate) and [Et4N]Cl center dot xH(2)O with Cul in the presence of PPh3 gave a tetranuclear compound, [Sn(edt)(2)Cl(mu-I)(,mu(3)-I)(CUPPh3)(3)] (1), which consists of a rectangular-pyramidal [Sn(edt)(2)Cl](-) moiety ligated by three [Cu(PPh3)](+) fragments via the sulfur atoms of the edt(2-) ligands. The treatment of a slurry of [Sn(edt)(2)] and excess [Et4N]Br with [Cu(MeCN)(4)][PF6] in the presence of PPh3 afforded a pentanuclear compound, [Sn(edt)(2)(mu-Br)(2)(mu(3)-Br)(2)(CUPPh3)(4)] (2), which comprises two [(CuPPh3)(2)(-)(mu-Br)](+) fragments symmetrically ligating an octahedral trans- [Sn(edt)(2) Br-2](2-) moiety via the sulfur and bromide atoms. Reaction of [Sn(edt)(2)] with [Cu(MeCN)(4)][PF6] and PPh3 in a mixed MeCN/CH2Cl2 solution yielded a novel octanuclear compound, [Sn(edt)(2)}(3)(mu-OH)(3)CU5(PPh3)(8)][PF6](2) (3), which may be described as a triangular [Sn(edt)(2)}(3)(mu-OH)(3)](3-) core chelated by three [Cu(PPh3)(2)](+) species and capped by two [Cu(PPh3](+) species. The luminescent properties of compounds 1, 2, and 3 were investigated in a CH2Cl2 solution at room temperature. Upon excitation at lambda > 360 nm, these compounds are luminescent in CH2Cl2 solution with emissions having maxima at 422, 515, and 494 nm, respectively.

    A mononuclear tin(IV) complex alpha-[Sn(edt)(2)(tdet)]} . beta-[Sn(edt)(2)(tdet)]} was synthesized by the reaction of Sn(edt)(2) and NaOH under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by X-ray structure analysis. Under hydrothermal conditions, two edt ligands turned into one tdet and this provides a new strategy for the preparation of H-2 tdet from cheap material. In the complex, the distances of Sn-S (thiolate) are about 2.4 Angstrom, but the distances of Sn-S (thioether) are about 2.8 Angstrom. Two isomers were found in the molecule.   • Dissolution of Sn, SnO, and SnS in a Thiol–Amine Solvent Mixture: Insights into the Identity of the Molecular Solutes for Solution-Processed SnS

    Binary solvent mixtures of alkanethiols and 1,2ethylenediamine have the ability to readily dissolve metals, metal chalcogenides; and metal oxides under ambient conditions to enable the facile solution processing of semiconductor inks; however, there is little information regarding the chemical identity of the resulting solutes. Herein, we examine the molecular solute formed after dissolution. of Sn, SnO, and SnS in a binary solvent mixture comprised of 1,2ethanedithiol (EDT) and 1,2-ethylenediamine (en). Using a combination of solution Sn-119 NMR and Raman spectroscopies, bis(1,2-ethanedithiolate)tin(II) was identified as the likely molecular solute present after the dissolution of Sn, SnO, and SnS in EDT-en, despite the different bulk material compositions and oxidation states (Sn degrees and Sn2+). All three semiconductor inks can be converted to phase-pure, orthorhombic SnS after a mild annealing step (similar to 350 degrees C). This highlights the ability of the EDT-en solvent mixture to-dissolve and convert a variety of low-cost precursors to SnS semiconductor material.

    Spirocyclic bis(ethane-1,2-dithiolato[2-]-SS')tin(IV) forms hexacoordinate crystalline complexes with pyridine and 2-(2-pyridyl)ethylamine. The compounds have been prepared by conventional methods and the crystal structures have been determined by an X-ray diffraction study. In the parent compound the tin is tetracoordinate in a highly distorted tetrahedral structure, with a weak intermolecular Sn ... S interaction. On the contrary, the adducts are essentially octahedral about the tin, with longer Sn-S bonds in the five-membered rings SnS2C2. The 2-(2-pyridyl)ethylamine ligand is bonded to the metal through the aminic nitrogen.
