Semistabilized arsonium ylides, generated in situ from the correspondingarsonium salts in the biphasic system of dichloromethane-50% aqueoussodium hydroxide, reacted smoothly with electron-deficient alkenesto afford TRANS-1,2-cyclopropane derivativeswith high stereoselectivity.
