to selectively afford the corresponding 8-vinyl-1-naphthol derivatives. N-(1-Naphthyl)benzenesulfonamides can similarly react with the alkynes. The reaction of salicylaldehyde with the alkynes using the catalyst system gives 2-hydroxyphenyl vinyl ketones via cleavage of the aldehyde C–H bond.

Keap1–Nrf2 PPI inhibitors were dissected into 77 fragments in a fragment-based deconstruction reconstruction (FBDR) study and tested in four orthogonal assays. This gave 17 fragment hits of which six were shown by X-raycrystallography to bind in the Keap1 Kelch binding pocket. Alkylation of primary and secondary sulfonamides with 2-chloromethylthiirane in the presence of alkali gives the corresponding N-(thiiran-2-ylmethyl)- and/or N-(thietan-3-yl)sulfonamides. The selectivity of the process depends on the solvent: in water, thiirane-thietane rearrangement products are formed exclusively, while ethanol favors Ad-E reaction leading to thiiranylmethyl derivatives. A procedure has been proposed for the synthesis of 3-(arylamino)thietanes which undergo selective acylation at the nitrogen atom. The possibility for synthesizing analogous derivatives of thietane 1-oxide and thietane 1,1-dioxide is considered.

A palladium-catalyzed domino N-benzylation/intramolecular directarylation involving sulfonanilides and 2-bromobenzyl bromides has been developed for the first time, providing a workable access to N-sulfonyl dihydrophenanthridines in good to excellent yields. Under the optimized conditions, the formation of 5,6-dihydrophenanthridines was largely controlled over the formation of biaryl sultams containing
