    The present invention provides a catalyst system that exhibits unprecedented catalyst efficiencies and control of desired properties in the polymer product. The catalyst system includes a new generation titanium catalyst in combination with an electron donor described by the formula: wherein R₁ is an alkyl or cycloalkyl group containing a primary or secondary carbon atom attached to the silicon atom; R₂ and R₃ are alkyl or aryl groups; and R₄ is an alkyl or cycloalkyl group with a primary or secondary carbon atom attached to the silicon atom. The system has a catalyst efficiency of over 30 kg/g-cat·h as the Si/TI mole ratio varies from 4-20 in the system. The system easily achieves efficiencies over 30 kg/g-cat·h. The system also exhibits good control over the xylene solubles of the polymer products.

    The present invention provides a catalyst system that exhibits unexpected control of desired properties in the polymer product. The catalyst system includes a new generation titanium catalyst in combination with an electron donor described by the formula : wherein R1 is an alkyl group containing a tertiary carbon atom attached to the silicon atom ; R2 and R3 are alkyl or aryl groups ; and R4 is an alkyl group with a tertiary carbon atom attached to the silicon atom ; R1 and R4 are the same or different. R1 and R4 are preferably tertiary carbon groups of 4-13 carbon atoms, more preferably 4-7 carbon atoms ; most preferably R1 and R4 are the same and are t-butyl groups. The system also exhibits good control over the polydispersity of the polymer products.

    The present invention provides a catalyst system which includes a Ziegler-Natta titanium catalyst in combination with an electron donor described by the formulae: wherein R1 is a terminally-substituted alkyl group containing a primary carbon atom attached to the silicon atom; R2, R3 and R5 are alkyl or aryl groups; and R4 is an alkyl group with a primary carbon atom attached to the silicon atom. R1 is preferably a primary alkyl group of 1-3 carbon atoms (exclusive of the carbon atoms of the alkyl substituent) which has the terminal carbon atom substituted with an alkyl substituent of the following formulae:         N-R'-N'-         N-R'- where N and N' are an electron-donating group, such as an amino group (NH2- and -NH-, respectively), R' is a primary alkyl group of 1-3 carbon atoms and, most preferably is ethyl or propyl; R2, R3 and R5 are methyl, ethyl, propyl, or butyl groups and not necessarily the same; and R4 is a primary alkyl group of 1-3 carbon atoms and, most preferably is methyl; R1 is most preferably 3-aminopropyl or 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyl; R4 is most preferably methyl; preferred electron donors are 3-aminoprolylmethyl diethoxysilane(3-APMDS) or 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyltrimethoxysilane [3-(2-AEA)PTS] or 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propylmethyldimethoxysilane[3(2-AEA)PMDS]. The system has a catalyst efficiency of at least 5 kg/g-cat·h as the Si/Ti mole ratio varies from 2-20 in the system.

    The present invention provides a catalyst system that exhibits unexpected control of desired properties in copolymer product. The catalyst system includes a conventional supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst in combination with an electron donor described by the formula: 1 wherein R 1 is a linear alkyl group attached to the silicon atom; R 2 and R 3 are alkyl or aryl groups and R 4 is a linear alkyl attached to the silicon atom, R 1 and R 4 are the same or different. R 1 and R 4 are preferably linear carbon groups of 4-13 carbon atoms, more preferably 4-7 carbon atoms; most preferably R 1 and R 4 are the same and are n-butyl groups. The system exhibits good control over the melt flow index of the copolymer products.

    A monomer stream containing propylene is supplied to a polymerization reactor which is operated under temperature and pressure conditions effective for the production of a stereoregular propylene polymer fluff. A titanium-based supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst having a titanium content of at least 1.7 wt. % and incorporating an internal electron donor is incorporated into the monomer stream. A trialkylaluminum co-catalyst is supplied to the monomer stream in an amount to provide an aluminum/titanium molar ratio within the range of 50-500. A silicon-based external electron donor is also supplied to the monomer stream in an amount to provide an aluminum/silicon molar ratio within the range of 10-500. Polymer fluff recovered from the polymerization reactor has a melt flow rate of at least 200 grams/10 minutes, and a xylene soluble content of no more than 4 wt. %.
