The synthesis of 5-acyl-2(1H)-pyrimidinones is described. In addition, one example of the hitherto unknown 6-acyl-2(1H)-pyrimidinones has been prepared.
examined establishing an efficient method for the preparation of alkyl(1,3-butadien-2-yl)methanols. Application of this method to chiral acetals prepared from (R,R)-2,4-pentanediol led to chiral alkyl(1,3-butadien-2-yl)methanol derivatives with high optical purity which were alternatively synthesized by the Sharpless kinetic resolution of racemic alkyl(1,3-butadien-2-yl)methanols.

When alkenynedioic acidderivatives were treated with a Grignard reagent, tandem cyclization and the incorporation of two molecules of the Grignard reagent occurred to give stereodefined bicyclo[4.2.0]octenols via four nucleophilic additions.
