Direct base-mediated amination of aryl halides with aliphatictertiary amines via an aryne intermediate was developed under transition-metal-free conditions. A regioselective cobalt-catalyzed triborylation of unactivatedalkenes is developed to access synthetically versatile 1,1,3-triborylalkanes with a catalyst generated from Co(acac)2 and xantphos. Mechanistic studies reveal that this triborylation reaction proceeds through three interdependent catalytic cycles.

In this paper we report data on the reactivity of 1-phenyl-pyrrolidinium and -piperidinium iodides, and indolinium and tetrahydroquinolinium iodides, with MeO− in methanol and compare them with the corresponding 1,1-dimethylazoniacycloalkane iodides.
