Cyclic enamides were prepared in one step from tetralone and chromanone derivatives and primary amides under acidic conditions. The enantioselectivehydrogenation of these enamides bearing an endocyclic trisubstituted carbon-carbon double bond was performed at room temperature in the presence of ruthenium catalysts.
