Treatment of bis(cyclo-octa-1,5-diene)platinum with 2 molar equivalents of tricyclohexylphosphine affords two-co-ordinate bis(tricyclohexylphosphine)platinum. The complex [Pt(PMeBut2)2] may be obtained in the same manner but is markedly less stable. Bis(tricyclohexylphosphine)platinum reacts with hydrogen to give trans-[PtH2P(C6H11)3}2] and with a series of compounds RH, containing active hydrogen
