  Novel S-benzyl thiolcarbamates are disclosed, having the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methoxy, R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, and allyl, and R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of straight-chain C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 alkyl optionally substituted with one or two methyl groups, and allyl. The compounds are particularly effective in the control of weeds associated with rice crops.
