pyridinium salts from the reaction of various 2‐aryl‐pyridines and 2‐aryl‐sp2‐nitrogen‐atom‐containing heterocycles with alkynesthroughrhodium(III)‐catalyzed CH activation and annulation under an O2 atmosphere is described. A possible mechanism that involves the chelation‐assisted CH activation of the 2‐aryl‐pyridine substrate, insertion of the alkyne, and reductive elimination is proposed. This

A simple and practical domino protocol for the selective synthesis of 2-aroylbenzothiazoles and 2-aryl benzothiazoles catalyzed by I2 is developed under metal-free conditions. The reaction outcomes are exclusively controlled by the reaction oxidant/medium. With DMSO employed as both the solvent and the oxidant, an oxidation of aromatic methyl ketones takes precedence over the condensation with 2-aminobenzenethiols

A relatively cheap copper salt-catalyzed, three-component approach providing 2-arylbenzothiazoles in good to excellent yields from readily available 2-iodoanilines, benzylamines, and sulfur powder is reported. This methodology allows preparation of various classes of 2-arylbenzothiazoles and provides a general, reliable approach.

Flash vacuum pyrolyses and photolyses of 2-methylthio-N-(arenylidene)anilines 2a–h are new and convenient methods for the syntheses of 2-arylbenzothiazoles 1a–h.
cross-coupling reaction between (hetero)aryl boronic esters and arylsulfides was explored, of which universality was exemplified with thirty small molecules and twelve alternating conjugated polymers. Mechanism studies revealed the importance of room temperature and anhydrous condition in reducing the homocoupling defects and enhancing the optoelectronic properties of the conjugated polymers.
