    The present invention relates to a positive photosensitive resin precursor composition which exhibits good storage stability after exposure. A photosensitive resin precursor composition comprises (a) a polymer essentially composed of a structural unit expressed by formula (1); (b) at least two photo acid generators; and (c) a compound having an alkoxymethyl group: wherein R 1 represents an organic group with a valence of 2 to 8, having at least two carbon atoms; R 2 represents an organic group with a valence of 2 to 6, having at least two carbon atoms; R 3 represents hydrogen or an organic group having a carbon number in the range of 1 to 20; n represents a number ranging from 10 to 100,000; m represents an integer in the range of 0 to 2; and p and q represent integers in the range of 0 to 4 and satisfy p+q>0.

    The present invention provides a photosensitive composition for an optical element that has stable optical properties, i.e. for which the performance of a phase difference controlling functional layer does not decrease upon heating when manufacturing color filters used in an image display apparatus such as a liquid crystal display, and cracking or the like does not occur upon ITO sputtering in an electrode establishing process, an optical element using the photosensitive composition, and a method of manufacturing the optical element. The photosensitive composition of the present invention is a photosensitive composition comprising at least a polymerizable liquid crystal material, a photopolymerization initiator, a crosslinking agent, and a solvent, wherein the crosslinking agent is at least one selected from compounds having at least two alkylol groups therein and compounds having at least two alkoxy groups therein. The optical element of the present invention is an optical element having a supporting material, and a phase difference controlling functional layer that is provided on the supporting material and comprises a polymerizable liquid crystal material cured having a predetermined liquid crystal regularity, wherein the phase difference controlling functional layer is formed using the above photosensitive composition. Moreover, the method of manufacturing an optical element of the present invention is a method of manufacturing an optical element having a supporting material, and a phase difference controlling functional layer that is provided on the supporting material and comprises a polymerizable liquid crystal material cured having a predetermined liquid crystal regularity, the method comprising applying the above photosensitive composition onto the supporting material, irradiating with ultraviolet radiation with the polymerizable liquid crystal material aligned in a liquid crystal state, and then carrying out heating treatment so as to crosslink, whereby the phase difference controlling functional layer is formed.

    Such a polymerizable liquid crystal composition is to be provided that is excellent in stability in a solution state, shows good coating property on a supporting substrate, and has a uniform homeotropic alignment property. The polymerizable liquid crystal composition contains an acrylate compound, an epoxy compound and a bisphenol fluorene compound. The polymerizable liquid crystal composition contains a compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formulae (1-1) and (1-2) as a component (A), a compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (2) as a component (B), a compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formulae (3-1) to (3-3) as a component (C) and a compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formulae (4-1A), (4-1B), (4-2), (4-3), (4-4) and (4-5) as a component (D), and may optionally contain a compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formulae (5-1) and (5-2) as a component (E). The bisphenol fluorene compound is effective for controlling a uniform homeotropic alignment of the polymerizable liquid crystal composition.
