Given are experimental data indicating that base-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization of ammonium salts containing a 2-propynyl-like group together with a 3-alkenyl- or 3-aryl-2-propynyl group follows a concerted mechanism involving the 3-alkenyl- or 3-aryl-2-propynyl moiety as π4-fragment.
